NIKE – HypeAdapt 1.0
Nike has revealed a line of self-lacing trainers, the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0. The shoes, which will launch later in 2016, are the first to feature what the sportswear brand is calling “electro-adaptive reactive laces (EARL)”. Activated by sensors in the sole, the EARL system adapts to the foot shape and weight distribution of the wearer. The laces are controlled by a system of pulleys, and can also be tightened or loosened with a button on the upper.
For decades, Nike and its top designers/engineers have been working on ways to reduce the stress caused by traditional shoelace constructions. Classic silhouettes as well as modern day silhouettes have addressed the issue, but nothing comes close to the micro-tuning capabilities of the HyperAdapt 1.0.
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will be exclusively to members of Nike+ beginning Holiday 2016, in three colourways. To become a Nike+ member and sign up for notifications about the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, go to Nike.com.
