As one of the leading sports brands and manufacturers, PUMA have endorsed some of the most well-known stars from a range of sports throughout their history. One of the biggest names who wore their products was the Brazilian Superstar Pelé. Known the world over and still regarded as one of the best to ever play the game, he had his own signature range of footwear and clothing carrying his name.
Not only did he have his own football boots but also signature casual/leisure shoes. The Pelé Granat is the lesser known and seen of them and this was the only version made. Once again, PUMA borrowed the style from another model and with some small changes produced this new shoe. Sharing the same aesthetics of the Dallas and Udo Lattek, the formstripe was Burgundy rather than White.
The Pelé Granat wasn’t the only model the football star had; he also had the more widely known PUMA Pelé Brasil shoe, which was in the famous Green and Yellow colours of the Brazilian flag. Although very similar to the Dallas model, one of the noticeable differences is their tongue which features his printed signature.
Throughout the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s PUMA had several stars flying the flag in their signature footwear and apparel. Since then there’s been a move towards more lifestyle and performance collections and releases. PUMA still endorse some of the biggest stats in sports but very few get the same range of products as those from the past such as these fine examples.
