Although PUMA never had an official City Series collection of shoes, they did have several named after worldwide city’s. From the various City named shoes they’ve made, the Oslo-City is definitely be up there as one the best. Although there are quite a few different versions and mock-up’s, they’re a timeless design and silhouette that has stood the test of times.
When it comes to the Oslo-City, there was at least another two different styles. One of which in the same colourway, but without the contact gum sole, upper construction and no Olympic rings on the stamp. The other version is closer in design but with a rubber contact sole and alternative front toe section and tongue.
There’s also a PUMA Oslo model which differs again, but the White and Black colourway seen on these is a classic that was seen on all. Just like one version of Oslo-City, they have the 5 Olympic rings that are also seen on several other past shoes such as the Delphin and Heynckes-Comet. Their tongue is more reminiscent of those moulded ones seen on Made in Italy pairs. But their best feature is probably the gum contact sole which has air bubbles along the bottom for added comfort.
All of the Oslo and Oslo-City models came out in relatively quick succession of one another, which shows that even from an early age the designers at PUMA were developing new and innovative methods. Thirty and fourth years later they’re just in good a quality as they were when first made and plenty of shoes released now include many of the details which these shoes introduced.
